How the F does this take up 788 mb?
somewhat endless barely compressed 24 bit 7.1 audioscapes, takes up the bulk of the experience. I can compress everything but compressed audio sounds like shit no matter what people do
Ok, I made a mistake here, actually it takes up less space, I running on linux through proton.
Still stupid aah game, lol.
i refuse
i will not becalm
i will be in constant panic
this is the way XD
Can you please release the soundtrack? Thanks.
It's a curious experience that I rarely see having options to be on the raft for 5 minutes or for an indefinite time, the only thing I didn't like is that the type of scenario you go up to, I don't know if it's random or restricted by something like the day of the week, the time or something else, but the point is that I could not see a scenario (sailing through icebergs) while I loaded the game several times to see if it gave me that scenario or some other that I had not seen . But overall this is a good experience to use as an interactive screen saver.
thank you so much, for future sessions just press spacebar in experience to switch between the levels
Hey :) Beautiful game. I loved the visuals, especially the lava-like water (red color reminded me of blood). I noticed that the longer I stayed, combined with the music, the more relaxed I felt. The good vibes remained after finishing the game, so it's very effective. Thanks for creating, and the infinite mode's a great idea.
X won't change biom
hey! spacebar changes biomes
simpesmente incrível, espero que algum dia eu consiga encontrar um jogo deste nível
I ran the Linux version (1.3 - only Windows has the 1.4 version). Very calming, and it doesn't overstay its welcome. Reminds me of playing Submerged. My scene was an icy sunset, perfectly fitting how cold my writing office is today!
thanks for trying it out :) Glad you enjoyed the icy morning!!
Bug report because I don't know where else to put it.
On steam version: Audio slider in settings doesn't affect volume or save through game close/open.
thxs for letting me know ill look into it!!
I could fall asleep to this
Freaking awesome game. Absolutely calming and the art style is beautiful. This would be a delightful experience for virtual reality platforms.
-Made a Video. (Old Video)
-The Game: 00:10 (The 1st Game)
very charming :)
why does it say claim?
All releases are currently part of a free bundle because of the pandemic so I think that changes the wording on the download button? Means you add it to your library
ooooh ok thanks!
I love your art. It looks amazing.
<3 Thank you so much!!!
Hello. Really love this. I plan to go back and perhaps write something up about it. The only issue I had was that spacebar didn't work to change biome. Neither does restarting the game. Using the itch.io app on Windows 10. I notice a few other people had issue with it; wondering if there's a fix as I'd like to see the others. Either way, I am calmer than I was five minutes ago. Thank you!
Thanks so much! Was the biome you experienced somewhat tropical with the sea on your left and a beach to the right? In most of these past cases the problem was that the Itch.io client automatically downloaded an older becalm release rather than the latest one. This can be fixed by downloading the game from the itch.io website rather than the client, and selecting the Becalm_4_Windows.zip link option. That one should have all the biomes included, the main menu with timed and infinite mode, and the space bar functionality. Hope that helps :)
edit: corrected proper link name
A relaxing little trip.
Thanks so much for playing :)
well i open the game click posibly every button on the gamepad and still all i see is a white screen
Huh that shouldnt be happening, what platform are you using? When you open the game it should be a white screen but there should read Becalm, and under it there's a couple of symbols/logos. The logos are for a 5 minute game session, infinity and options. Select any of those with the gamepad and press A and it should start.
im using windows 10 and the white screen wil never go away i see no logos or symbols i tried clicking everything on the gamepad and keyboard but nothing happended
Ohhhh ok I think I know what the problem is, last weekend I temporarily uploaded an experimental VR version for testing (that had the white screen bug). The itch client probably downloaded that automatically since it was the latest upload, could you try downloading the Becalm_4_Windows.zip that is available on the downloads page? That's the stable, proper Windows 10 edition. Hope that helps :)
Beautiful music and visuals! Very peaceful! My issue is far more personal and nothing to do with this lovely content, but the colors had my visual sensory stuff going 'eeeeeeh' throughout the whole thing. Pretty to leave on in the background though and chill with some peaceful breathing! Would recommend for others, just not for myself! :)
Haha ohh apologies for that, thanks for trying it out tho and the kind comments!! :)
hey what happened to "again"? can't find it...
Hey it's temporarily offline as it's currently being remade into something a bit different and super cool ;)
Beautiful game omg! Followed!
Thank you so much!! :)
Very sad not to be able to try because of the new version of mac OS Catalina
Hey! Yes the new Mac software changes are a bit of a bummer, luckily there's a workaround for the time being tho :) It involves temporarily disabling gatekeeper, instructions link here
Absolutely loved this
. I'll be returning to it ever so often, just for a little peace of mind. Thank you for creating this experience.
Thank you so much for playing <3 Glad you enjoyed it and np :)
Lovely piece of software. Space bar didn't work for me (Windows), but c'est la vie.
Thank you! That's very weird, cant think of why that would happen, what os are you using? I'll check it out :)
Windows 7 Pro 64.
Lovely game for taking a break from development :-)
Thank you :) Haha yes we all need a good break when dev'ing, glad to hear you found it here!
Hello, thanks for a fun and free relaxing experience, Im running Ubuntu 18.04 and for some reason, the keyboard commands do not work, and the escape button closes the game entirely. Any idea on whats going on?
Hey! Yes this is happening on the latest version release and Ubuntu for some reason, If you try the prior version it should work well. Have to see what's causing that :)
Played your Experience in an indie romp! This was a trippy yet pretty game
Your game starts at the 12 min markThanks :)
Thank you for making this. I didn't know it but this was exactly what I needed tonight.
Thanks for playing!! Glad it helped out :)
Such a relaxing game to play to relieve stress!
https://youtu.be/6axzE1Upk3g
Thank you very much! Glad you found it relaxing :)
Merci! Glad you enjoyed it!
Very chill. Some pretty neat shaders and effects in there. I'd definitely play a version of this where you could sail in any direction, even if there was no other "gameplay". I'm pretty sure the version I played had a bug cause I noticed other people were able to switch scenes. Mine would just freeze for a few seconds whenever I clicked. Anyways, great job on the visuals! Would love to see more from you in the future! I put together a short video of my time with it if you're interested. :)
Thank you very much!! Super glad you enjoyed it! I've actually just finished working on an update that lets you switch scenes with a key and an endless mode :) Thank you very much for the video!
5/5 but how to visit a different destination?
Each time you run the game it'll choose a random location, so it might repeat or show something new. you can always press 'Esc' to close quickly, no need to wait the 5 minutes :)
Thanks, I'll try the latest version. I may have had an older build.
I've just released a patch where you can change scenes by pressing the spacebar :)
Love it. Such greta atmosphere - almost like being in a painting.
Only thing I could ask for right now is an "endless" setting where this just runs constantly.
Thank you very much! I've just finished developing an endless mode :) so update should come out tomorrow or this weekend at the latest!
Looking forward to it - This'll need to go in my online list of "relaxers."
Just pushed the patch, you'll find as v3. Enjoy!
Awesome! Now I know what to run next time I'm doing some writing or other projects. I adore "background games" like this for that very purpose.
Also was sure to link to it from the "Resource Page" on my site under helpful tools. Been running it now and then to chill while doing projects.

Becalm is very interesting to look at. While short and without any real controls, it succeeds in being what it is meant to be: A relaxing experience. From the ambient tones to the constantly shifting visuals, this is definitely a good example of art in the form of a video game.
Good job, devs.Thank you very much!!! This means a lot, glad you enjoyed the experience :)
You're welcome. And thank you for making this.
Thank you! & thanks for making the video :)
no problem do you have any other game in the works! or any plans for current game?
Great game! Loved the scenery and music! The artwork was so pretty too! Very relaxing
Thank you! Enjoyed the video and the story haha, thanks for making it! :)
